Fitch "Forever Young" June 16. 2006 - March 5, 2007
Fitch fought his potential abductors and by doing so he saved the life of his brother Abercrombie. Unfortunately Fitch could not recover from the injuries he received from these cruel and heartless people and he succumbed.
Fitch lost his battle for life on March 5, 2007 at 11:56pm at the University of Georgia. Rest in Peace Dear Brave Fitch... For you we will continue to fight!!!

How You Can Save A Foal From Slaughter
|
|
Medical FundIn Honor of RockySo many times when the horses come in they are in desperate need of medical care. Sometimes it can be very small maybe just fluids or medication but many times it is intensive. Rocky was a perfect example. His vet bill was $1228 in 48 hours and that was with our doctor giving us a very good price, as well as using much of our own drugs and Brad helping with treating Rocky. It is imperative that we have the resources to help these horses... Please consider donating to this fund.
DONORSGayle
"Die with Dignity" FundIn Honor of all horses that deserve to die with respect and peaceNo horse deserves to die a tortuous death. This fund will be dedicated to humane euthanasia for a horse when the time has come. Even if the horse is not with us, if there is a need we would like to be able to allow as many horses as we can die in peace with a full belly, a gentle touch and kind words.
Feed & HayWell this is pretty slef explanantory.. Our horses LOVE to eat. Our feed runs anywhere from $8.99 a bag to 14.99 a bag, our hay is $9.50 a bale and we purchase 100 bales a week. Thank you for helping to feed the horses!!

ADOPT
Adopt one of these precious babies for yourself. After the horse is shipped, since most are not use to the human touch, we will give it three months of ground training, then he or she will be ready for their new permanent home. The price ranges. But the average price of a foal after training and shipping is $850.00 some may be higher some depending on the farm they were rescued from, shipping costs and amount of training required.

SPONSOR
Sponsor a foal to be pulled from the feedlot and saved from the slaughterhouse. By paying the cost of a horse, it is pulled from the lot and saved from the slaughterhouse. You do not need to house or feed; we will attend to their needs. You will have saved a young life from a horrible death. The price for the sponsorship is the price of the horse. The price is $500, depending upon the farm it is rescued from and the price the slaughterhouse would get for the meat. Should you decide to adopt later on, your sponsorship money will be applied to your adoption. We hope you'll be able to do this in person - the foals would love to meet you. We also have a link in our General Store

Don't Walk AwayI need you. I need you to look in my eyes and hear me.. I need you to be my voice. I do not want to go to slaughter. I am not ready to die.. Help me. I need you.
This is Howee and here is his story.
When I saw this boy my heart was just sick! I told my mom that he needed help, badly! We continued around to see the other horses but I went back to Howee as he was breaking my heart.
Just as the horses were going to start going through the ring I saw Amanda outside and went to say hello.
We then continued on back to Howee and we were discussing hm and his issues. Amanda told me that he had been purchased from a kill buyer, that he was not going through the sale. There was a dfinite fear that he was gong to go to slaughter Many people came by him an some were even crying.
I told her I was going to call Jen. I continued to make phone calls and talk to people about the slaughter issues. I told them if they wanted to help so bad, we needed some funds so we could make sure he is taken care of humanly if that is what was needed, of course then they all walked away.
Fast forward to my call to Jen. When I called Jen she was told what was said about this boy and Jen said, and I quote "Beth, tell me what you need to save him!" We discussed a few things and then Jen spoke to Charlie himself about the situation and he was calling her after the auction. When the auction ended Charlie spoke with myself, Amanda, Mom and Carl (I believe is Amanda's husbands name) as we discussed the situation. Charlie explained that this horse was already in the head count to head to Canada via New Holland. We spoke about Howee's space being taken by another horse because the load had to have X amount of horses on it before it leaves NH. So Charlie called Jen and everything I told her was confirmed. They spoke for a bit and Charlie handed me the phone, Jen and I spoke about this horse and what I thought. I told her that I understand what Charlie was saying and if he was already in the count then he was spoken for. We agreed to let Charlie take him but Jen said I was her voice in PA and it was my final call, she stood behind me 100%!
Mom and I went to see the horses that were left and I had to see Howee one last time.
.
When I got home I could not sleep and came to my computer, Jen and I spoke about this horse and neither of us could let this go. I knew he was very sore at the sale but he was on standing on cement and that was not good. The what ifs kept eating at Jen and I. This horse's eye was haunting me and Jen was so upset because I had seen him and saw the kindness he shared. It was then that Jen said, "Beth he is safe!" Jen had called Charlie at like 1:30 in the morning and said WE WANT HIM!!
It was from that point on that we worked on the details to get him home to my Mother's place.
Howee is a dream. He is so kind, loving and grateful. My vet is sick today but she will be out to see him as soon as she is back. My farrier will be calling me back. After trotting around some last night Mom said he was sore this morning but still grazing away. I will try to get new pictures of his Tattoo. It is hard to read as he has black patches that cover the number.
Even if it turns out Howee has to be put down, at least I know he went peacefully with a full belly, no pain and a loving hand on him.
We would like to thank everyone that has helped Howee and thank Beth and her mother for making "room at the Inn" for this weary traveler.
We will keep everyone updated on his prognosis, if you would like to donate to his care and medical treatment, everything is appreciated. We will also be going to Sugarcreek this weekend to save more like Howee.
More that are not ready.. and need us to listen.
